About this course

GWO WAH + MH + FAW

Inleiding

Cursusinhoud

GWO Working at Heights (WAH)

  • veilig klimmen en afdalen in windturbines;
  • persoonlijke valbeveiliging correct inspecteren en gebruiken;
  • werken met positionerings- en back-upsystemen;
  • basisreddingen uitvoeren met goedgekeurde reddingsmiddelen;

  • de juiste tiltechnieken en werkhoudingen toe te passen;
  • fysieke overbelasting en blessures te voorkomen;
  • risico's bij handmatige werkzaamheden te herkennen;
  • veilig samen te werken bij het verplaatsen van zware onderdelen;

GWO Fire Awareness (FAW)

  • brandrisico's herkennen en beoordelen;
  • de oorzaken en ontwikkeling van brand begrijpen;
  • verschillende soorten branden herkennen;
  • draagbare blusmiddelen veilig en effectief gebruiken;

  • Working at Heights (WAH)
  • Manual Handling (MH)
  • Fire Awareness (FAW)

Day 1 - Working at Height: Fundamentals and Preparation

The first day focuses on the fundamental principles of safe working at height. Participants learn about human factors and relevant legislation, the correct use of harnesses and personal protective equipment (PPE), and the implementation of fall prevention techniques. The course also covers lanyards and self-retracting lifelines (SRL), the risks of falling objects, and the recognition and prevention of suspension trauma. The day concludes with practical exercises in which emergency procedures and fall protection techniques are applied in realistic scenarios.

Day 3 - Practical application and rescue operations

The final day integrates all skills in realistic rescue and emergency scenarios. Participants perform rescues, administer first aid and work together in complex situations that test leadership and coordination. The course concludes with evaluation and individual feedback to reinforce professional safety behaviour.

Practical training with portable fire extinguishers

Small Fire Extinguisher Training Area

Participants learn how to safely and effectively extinguish fires using handheld and portable fire extinguishers. Training takes place in realistic outdoor fire scenarios, allowing trainees to experience firsthand how different extinguishers work and what their limitations are.

What makes this facility unique is the hands-on approach to a variety of fire situations — from small liquid and gas fires to solid materials. Participants not only practice firefighting techniques but also learn to assess safety, distance, and the appropriate extinguishing strategy.

Who is it for

The Small Fire Extinguisher Training Area is used by maritime personnel, offshore teams, industrial emergency responders, and emergency response officers (BHV) who need to know how to control small fires quickly and effectively.
